Spring 2025 Clinical Research Course – Save the Date!!
Attention senior fellows and junior faculty - are you interested in developing your research skills from leading scientists in the field of pediatric critical care? Join us for PALISI’s Clinical Research Course on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 7:30am - 5:30pm. This one-day intensive workshop is designed to expose junior investigators to key components of a research career and build connections in the PALISI community. Topics will include building connections, developing your research program, cultivating collaborations, reviewing specific aims, discussing strategies for your professional success, and more!
This year participants will register for one of two tracks. You will be asked to choose your track upon registration, and you will spend roughly half of the day within your track.
Collaborative Clinician-Researcher - for those interested in roles such as collaborative investigator or site PI with a local clinical research or quality improvement scholarly focus
Independent Clinician-Scientist* - for those aiming to lead independently funded research programs
*If you are registering for the Independent Clinician-Scientist track, you must submit a Specific Aims page for review during the Specific Aims Workshop. If you are interested but do not feel prepared to submit this sample work, please don't hesitate to reach out to the course directors for guidance. Specific Aims will be requested in advance of the meeting and all late registrants will be placed in the Collaborative Clinician-Researcher track.
Please note that repeat course participation is always welcome, especially if you've participated in the past and now have better defined specific aims that you would like to review!

Platform Trial Call for Follow Up Core, Biorepository, CCC and DCC Applications
Dear PALISI Members,
As we shared at the Fall PALISI meeting, the PALISI Platform Executive Design Committee and multiple subcommittees have been making great progress in the design of the adaptive platform trial. We are interested in moving forward in identifying potential sites for the 4 major components of the infrastructure of the PALISI Platform. Applications are now open for the Follow Up Coordinating Center, in addition to the Biorepository, CCC, and DCC. Of note, CCC and DCC applications will close shortly. If you are still interested in these opportunities, please email us ASAP.
Biorepository
Data Coordinating Center (DCC)
Clinical Coordinating Center (CCC) with or without IRB @ same site
Attached, please find descriptions of the core characteristics of these components. We seek self-nominations of sites who believe they can fulfill the core features listed. We are asking for an initial conversation with interested sites in the coming weeks. Although we continue to pursue full external funding opportunities, we will likely need to explore creative funding models, for example cost-sharing or self-funding – please be prepared to discuss these aspects of your candidacy as well.
PROCESS:
Phase 1 Please email one of the members of the PALISI Platform Executive Design Committee ASAP to indicate your site’s potential interest. We will schedule an informational meeting to discuss further steps.
After Phase 1, interested sites will receive an application form for formal application
Phase 2 Submit full proposal
Full proposals will be considered and selected by the PALISI Platform Executive Design Committee in combination with the PALISI Executive Committee
Signed,
David Wypij, Martha Curley, Michael Agus, Roby Khemani, Tell Bennett

Membership Transition to Morweb
Membership and registration transition to Morweb: We know the transition to the Morweb payment system has been effective but still with some hurdles. We appreciate your patience. Despite this transition, once again, many attendees arrived to the Fall meeting without appropriate pre-meeting registration. Although we can quickly accommodate on-site attendees, it is always best for conference room capacity and food/beverage estimation for registrations to be in advance. Please email palisi@admin.org if there are remaining issues with site membership and conference registration issues.
