Dear Colleague,

We are interested in describing pediatric critical care providers' (attendings, fellows, advanced practice providers) practice patterns regarding sedation and analgesia in endotracheally intubated children in pediatric intensive care units, with the goal of using this information to help design future clinical studies to optimize sedation practices.

We recognize many factors influence care decisions, however, the cases presented are purposefully "generic" to allow us to better understand the range and breadth of care usually provided to children who are endotracheally intubated. We request that you answer with the assumption that the child has gotten to the point of needing an infusion and is thus past the point of being adequately sedated with only intermittent (bolus) medications.

Participation in this study will be limited to this survey and a one-month reminder. The survey should not take any longer than 10-15 minutes of your time. Your completion of the survey implies your voluntary consent to participate in the research. This research has been approved by the Penn State University Institutional Review Board (STUDY00020029).

If you have questions or concerns about the survey, please contact Neha Sinha at 717-531-5337 or via email at nsinha2@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.
